POETRY

These are not originals, but feeble attempts at translating some Gujarati works which have touched me.

From RAIS MANIAR –

When the knots of life are opened
Only the threads remain in your hands

The ship sails the seas
Not knowing water
It’s acquaintance only starts
When it springs a leak

The arrow that misses its target
Adds to the quiver of the enemy

A journey can begin
Without even taking a single step
The earth itself moves away
From under your feet

From MAREEZ –

The vastness of this world
Is not for nothing
There has to be space
For the meeting of two souls

From SHEEN KAF NIZAM –

You were quiet
And my lips were also sealed
Who was it, then
Whose voice we heard
